PRIMARY PURPOSE

Manage small projects and tasks and act as project coordinator to align project management processes with the goals of the research and other execution plans for client project(s).  Also, act as internal project management resource for implementation of consistent project management process.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION AND/OR DUTIES

1. Review and interpret task–level project plans.

 

2. Interface with client, other contractors, and subcontractors.

 

3. Track cost, schedule, and invoicing and POs project-wide.

 

4. Advise managers on project execution issues.

 

5. Generate and brief task-level project status reports to client(s) and management.

 

6. Practice project change management.

 

7. Document and implement planning, execution, control, and closeout processes.

 

8. Facilitate and provide, as appropriate, project management training to project directors and other employees.

 

9. Plan and manage large non-research events within projects.

 

10. Help develop strategies for providing effective technical assistance and plan, develop, and implement such programs and activities.  Manage technical assistance tasks and programs.

 

11. Provide mentoring in project management.

 

12. Plan and execute projects.

 

13. May serve as liaison on project and marketing opportunities to a wide range of governmental agencies and private organizations.  Assist and advise the Managing Director and Vice President & Director about the appropriateness of marketing opportunities.
 

14. Perform other duties as assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. Education: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably specializing in Engineering, Mathematics,
Science, or Information Technology (IT). 
  Master's and PMP certification are a plus.

 

2. Experience: Must have a minimum of 6 years of related experience; experience preparing and delivering project reports and deliverables, including 4 years strong project management, program management and/or technical assistance experience. 

 

3. Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; and hands-on experience with MS Project, Word & Excel and other project management tools; ability to operate independently and proactively in the execution and planning of assignments; strong critical thinking and organizational skills; ability to interact directly and effectively with clients.

 

4. Other: Must have security clearance eligibility; and be able to travel to client and other contractor sites.

5.  Desired qualifications: Background in lifecycle acquisition management and an understanding of FAA acquisition processes. Experience in engaging multiple stakeholders to understand and define objectives, concepts of operation, requirements, data models and client needs. General knowledge of National Airspace System.
