A Network Architect designs and directs the construction of network-based technology solutions. A Network Architect provides technical
leadership for network-based projects across the organization, from strategic decision making down to the project. Additionally, this
individual will gain organizational commitment for all design changes for network systems, as well as evaluate, select, and leads implementation of network-based technologies that are congruent with the Network Architecture at Alta Resources.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Strategy & Planning

Document existing corporate technology portfolio and architecture.

Develop, maintain, and enforce architectural standards for corporate technology.

Conduct research on emerging technologies.

Perform cost-benefit analysis and return on investment for technology options.

Recommend opportunities to use selected technologies.

Develop strategic and tactical plans for managing, maintaining, and introducing technology in alignment with corporate strategic plans.

Execution and Service Delivery

Translate functional requirements and design into technical requirements and design.

Lead architectural design activity for technology projects following standard portfolio management, project management, and software development methodologies.  Create design models, specifications, diagrams and charts to provide documentation and direction for all necessary staff resources.

Conduct architectural design reviews for new and existing corporate technology.

Provide architectural expertise, direction and assistance wherever necessary.

Ensure all technology designs are in compliance with corporate security standards.

Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house technology.

Provide guidance, instruction, and mentoring to junior staff members.

Provide 24x7 on call rotation support for all supported technologies.

 

Communication and Collaboration

Collaborate with all necessary leadership and staff members in the planning, design, development, deployment, and maintenance of new and existing technology solutions.

Gain commitment on decisions through collaboration and persuasion; be able to inspire enthusiasm and commitment in others at all levels of the organization.

Communicate effectively by displaying strong verbal, written and listening skills.

Exhibit the ability to translate complex technical topics into understandable business language in order to explain and justify technical needs and solutions to non-technical audiences.

Provide subject matter expertise and direction as necessary for operational support and training personnel for modified and new systems.

Regular attendance, punctuality and adherence to agreed-upon schedule of availability are conditions of employment and essential function of this position.

Requirement – Education

 

2 year technical degree or an Associate’s degree in IT-Related field required;

·       Design, Implementation and Support of Datacenter Networking

·       F5 network design, implementation and support

·       Routers, routing protocols, and WAN

·       LAN Switching, VLAN’s and associated protocols

·       Firewall, Wireless, IPS, Network Management, Industry Trends

·       Capacity planning, network security principles, and network systems best practices

 

10+ years of IT experience required. At least 5 years of leading technology solution definition and implementation efforts, with at least 3 years of formal architecture experience in the following technical skill sets listed below:

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Level I - Although this position will not have responsibility for direct reports, the position requires active leadership in the way of supporting strategic initiatives as well as active personal development and application of Six Sigma methodologies.

 

Level II and III will potentially have additional leadership accountability- Supervises and carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, retaining, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing and resolving issues.   The position also requires active leadership in the way of supporting strategic initiatives as well as personal development and application of Six Sigma methodologies.  All leadership positions are expected to attain Six Sigma Green Belt certification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for up to eight hours, and stand.
