Associated Students, CSUF, Inc.  provides student development opportunities through leadership, volunteer, and employment experiences. In addition, the Associated Students provides campus community members with important social, cultural, and recreational opportunities, as well as, a wide range of programs and services.

Graduate Assistant position


Starting hourly rate- $16.00


Under the direction of the Coordinator of Leader & Program
Development, the Graduate Assistant provides
support to the Coordinator in advising student leaders as they conceive,
implement and evaluate a variety of regular weekly events and meetings.


  • As directed, co-advises student leaders on
    developing, facilitating, and evaluating programs and events.

  • Attends and monitors ASI events to ensure safety
    and to mitigate risk.

  • As directed, facilitate student leadership
    training and development for student leaders throughout the year.

  • Apply program policies and procedures; Review
    financial paperwork and proposals.

  • Appropriately apply ASI and University policies
    and procedures.

  • Facilitate and encourage cross-collaboration
    among ASI advocacy commission groups.

  • As directed, attend weekly group meetings and
    meet individually with student leaders to monitor progress of events and to
    provide guidance.

  • Other duties as assigned.



  • B.S/B.A. degree
  • Must be
         enrolled/enrolling in a graduate degree program focusing on higher
         education or student affairs.



  • Some experience in college student activities preferred, but not


Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills with ability to establish and
    maintain effective, cooperative, and harmonious relationships within a diverse
    campus environment. Ability to effectively organize, lead, train and direct the
    efforts of student leaders and volunteers and engender support for various
    programs and projects.

  • Must be able to interpret and carryout Associated Students Inc. and
    University policies. Ability to interpret and apply program policies and
    procedures. Ability to rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall
    operation, functions, and programs of the Associated Students Inc. Ability to
    use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in
    implementing long-range program improvements.

  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and carry through actions
    having implications with regards to other programs or service areas.

  • Word processing, excel, and outlook knowledge required. Strong written
    and oral communication skills.

  • Must be able to
         keep an accurate record of hours worked by clocking in and out correctly.
  • Must be able to
         be on time, prepared to work and adhere to department dress code.


Typical Physical

  • Must be able to
         lift and carry up to 35 lbs properly.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job
         functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local
         standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with
         the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
  • Frequently required to sit, talk,
         listen, walk; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing
         and vision to normal range; clear verbal communication.



  • Required to be a Mandatory Reporter and sign ASI General Mandatory
    Reporter Form.
