Associated Students, CSUF, Inc.  provides student development opportunities through leadership, volunteer, and employment experiences. In addition, the Associated Students provides campus community members with important social, cultural, and recreational opportunities, as well as, a wide range of programs and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


The TSU Art Gallery Assistant manages the Titan Student Union’s exhibition spaces, including the Center Gallery, Atrium Gallery, and Plaza Gallery. The assistant works with the Information & Services Manager
and the Titan Student Centers Governing Board Programs & Services Committee to manage the union’s permanent art collection. The assistant schedules a variety of exhibits, including an annual student art competition and guest artist exhibits with a goal of continuous exhibits in all three locations.



  • Develops working relationships with artists, exhibitors, academic departments, and university departments in order to schedule exhibits.

  • Researches exhibitors and their work to ensure exhibits are compatible with the mission of
    the Associated Students, CSUF, Inc. and the Titan Student Union.

  • Coordinates exhibitions from booking to closing; works with exhibitor to confirm responsibilities and develop schedule; coordinates installation and de-installation of exhibitions; monitors display throughout run of the exhibition.

  • Works with the TSC Program & Services committee, reporting activities and exhibition status.

  • Works with ASI Marketing Communications and Design to ensure content of web page is
    current and accurate, and to develop marketing materials. 
    May write artist biographies and text for exhibition brochures;

  • Processed documentation related to exhibits, including exhibitor contracts and documentation related to the permanent collection, including inventory, insurance, and a digital image inventory

  • Gallery maintenance, including cleaning, lighting, and minor repairs 

  • Handles artwork, which may include receiving, unpacking, and packing artwork; hanging
    and placement of artwork; handling artwork on loan or in permanent collection.

  • Opening events and other programs related to exhibitions

  • Manages the Art Classes in the Grand Stairs Studio

  • Teaching appropriate class content according to class descriptions provided, unless approved by the Information & Services Manager.

  • Provides a list of equipment or supplies needed.

  • Modifies instruction for participants with different skill levels.

  • Enforces safety at all times.

  • Instructs students in proper care and use of tools and equipment.

  • Maintains accurate records of class attendance,

  • Organizes storage area and control use of materials, equipment and tools to prevent loss and to minimize time required for distribution and collection.

  • Promotes the Art Classes to the campus community.

Education, Work Experience Requirements and Abilities:



  • Must be an enrolled student at California State University, Fullerton preferably with a major in: fine arts, art education, art history, humanities, museum or arts administration, or related field.



  • A background in the arts or some knowledge of museum work is desirable.


Knowledge and

  • An interest in art or academic exhibitions.

  • The ability to encourage student involvement in the artistic life of the campus and student union.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with
    internal and external clients.

  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments.

  • Must be able to be on time and prepared to work and adhere to department dress code.

  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

Typical Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs properly.

  • Frequently required to sit, talk, listen and walk; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; clear verbal communication.

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
