Part-Time Production Worker (DAYS AND NIGHTS AVAILABLE)

We are currently hiring for part time production worker positions, up to 24 hours a week. Work in our fully automated inserting in the packaging department, packaging advertisement inserts for Daily and Weekly publications.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Feed insert machine head:

    1. Keep head filled with inserts
    2. Keep correct amount of inserts in head (not too high or low)
    3. Place inserts in hopper head with folded edge flush to guide bars
    4. Place correct section in appropriate head

 

  1. Correct misses and doubles:
    1. Determine if insert is missing or doubled
    2. If a miss, add one section
    3. If a double, remove one section
    4. Complete process within 10 seconds

 

  1. Record Pallet counts on Inserter:
    1. When a new pallet is moved in, look at insert counter
    2. Write down counter total next to name of insert on clipboard form
    3. Write down counter total when each insert runs out

 

  1. Verify correct section:
    1. Know what publication date we are currently working on
    2. Look for sale dates on insert piece
    3. See if insert matches sample insert mounted in insert head
    4. Check with supervisor if you have any doubts

  1. Hand-stuff inserts:
    1. Place E-F-G inside news section
    2. Write your number in corner of top paper
    3. Place stack of 8 or 10 inserted papers on conveyor
    4. maintain posted minimum quota

 

 

  1. Jog papers on jogger:
    1. Turn jogger on
    2. Hold manageable amount of inserts on jogger
    3. Folded edge of insert is perfectly flush

 

 

  1. Operate counter stacker:
    1. Turn stacker on
    2. Use stop button when product flow demands
    3. Stop stacker and clear product jams
    4. Notify supervisor of malfunctions

 

  1. Pull sections and jackets:  (same as above)

 

  1. Stack sections and jackets:  (same as above)

 

  1. Break open pallets:
    1. Verify you have correct section
    2. Cut pallet bands according to safety standards
    3. Remove pallet top
    4. Remove shrink-wrap if needed
    5. Throw refuse in proper container

 

  1. Monitor conveyor flow:
    1. Prevent bundles from jamming on conveyor
    2. Remove bundles that have no protective wrap or only one or no straps
    3. Give defective bundles to tying machine operator

 

  1. Transport pallets to storage:
    1. Follow all pallet jack safety rules
    2. Put coupon pallets and Best Buy in locked coupon dage
    3. Store according to number of pallets and order of usage
    4. Keep up with transportation flow from dock

 

  1. Stack empty pallets:
    1. Stack all empty pallets no more than 6½ feet high
    2. Keep stacks of wooden pallets flat
    3. Keep stacks of pallets square

 

  1. Top inserts on News bundles:
    1. Place bundle of inserts squarely on top of every bundle of news
    2. Keep up with news product flow

 

Hours vary depending upon shift.  Must be willing to work Nights and Weekends.

 
Incentive Pay = $1, $2 or $3/hour
Night Shift Differential = $1.25/hour 
 
 

Production experience and pallet lift experience helpful. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
