SpecPro Professional Services (SPS) is seeking an individual experienced in providing environmental support in execution of environmental remediation at the Badger Army Ammunition Plant located in Baraboo, Wisconsin. The project office is located at the Badger Army Ammunition Plant.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct field assignments, such as contractor supervision, borehole logging, test pit logging, site reconnaissance, and construction quality assurance (CQA) monitoring.
- Oversee sediment remediation and industrial wastewater discharges.
- Summarize the findings of the field assignments for input into engineering or environmental reports.
- Perform field activities such as sediment, soil, and groundwater sampling.
- Perform office tasks such as construction documentation, environmental analyses, and report preparation.
- Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are required with strong technical writing and data management skills.
- Remediation system maintenance, optimization and design.
- Oversight of contractor activities, including construction, sediment dredging, excavation, and other remedial actions.
- Prepare technical documents such as proposals, Work Plans, Uniform Federal Policy Quality Assurance Project Plans (UFP-QAPPs), Technical Memoranda, Records of Decision (ROD), Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Studies (RI/FS), Proposed Plans, and periodic monitoring reports.
- Assist with the coordination of field activities and support various projects being performed under CERCLA/RCRA on both local sites and national sites such as active military installations, Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS), and Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) facilities.
- Assist SPS personnel with proofing, communications, and other assistance where needed.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers in a courteous and professional manner.
- Willingness and ability to accurately interpret and apply knowledge of environmental theories, processes, and state and federal reporting requirements.
- Provide open communication with Project Manager on ways to improve techniques, operations and functions.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time within the upper Midwest.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, geology, or a related field (or equivalent education/experience) is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience with contamination related materials (sediment, soil, and groundwater).
- 40 Hour HAZWOPER certified or ability to obtain certification within the first 3 months.
- Knowledge of Wisconsin environmental regulations and requirements is preferred. Specifically, NR 700, CERCLA, RCRA, and WPDES.
- Strong analytical skills, and attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Ability to work in a variety of terrain, weather conditions, and lift over 50 pounds.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word and Excel).
- US Citizenship Required.
