We are seeking a customer service-oriented, highly-motivated leader to join our world-class team as General Manager of the Columbia Ice Rink. Operating year-round, Columbia Ice Rink offers Columbia Association's members, guests and residents, fun programs and activities - including lessons, rentals, leagues, birthday parties and a snack bar.

The General Manager, reporting to the Assistant Director of Sport and Fitness, is an integral part of the leadership team. The General Manager ensures a successful, safe, clean, functional and customer service-focused environment for our members, guests and associates. They inspire members, guests and team members through movement, community and personal attention. They encourage active, social, and healthier lives.

The General Manager is responsible and accountable for coordinating and supervising the overall operation, organization, maintenance, marketing and planning of Columbia Ice Rink. The General Manager will be responsible for the management of a staff of up to 35 team members, achieving sales goals, revenue goals, overall customer experience and satisfaction standards by maximizing the member and guest experience and facility revenues. The General Manager will lead the team to provide excellent customer service per CA’s Service Excellence principles and to deliver on CA’s Mission, Vision and Values.

The General Manager must have the ability to establish and maintain positive, team-oriented, cooperative working relationships with team members in all of CA’s departments and divisions, and with members, guests and the community at-large. They must also be organized and good with logistics.

This is a challenging position, involving considerable responsibility, complexity and variety.

The General Manager for the Ice Rink will essentially manage all phases of the rink’s operation which includes the following: Lessons, Rentals, Front Desk, Snack Bar and Birthday Parties to ensure maximum customer service, sales and profitability through focusing on key business initiatives, rink presentation and cleanliness, facility management, inventory management, safety and loss prevention, payroll management, risk management, and daily operational cost control.

Requirements include:

  • Must have a bachelor's degree. A bachelor's degree in business, hospitality or sports management is highly preferred.

  • Must have a minimum of three years of management/supervisory experience.

  • Must have a minimum of two years of experience in facility management; recreational facility management preferred.

  • Strong budgeting/finance and management experience a must.
