We are seeking a customer service-oriented, highly motivated and experienced leader to join our world class team as Assistant General Manager to promote the sport of tennis, grow the game and ensure the satisfaction of our members and guests at our five prestigious clubs, encompassing 37 tennis courts and six pickleball courts located in Columbia, Maryland.

Operating year-round, Columbia Association Tennis offers Columbia Association’s members, guests, and residents, fun programs and activities - including lessons, leagues, teams, junior programs, adult programs, socials, events and tournaments.

The Assistant General Manager, reporting to the General Manager, is an integral part of the leadership team. The Assistant General Manager will strive to fulfill the Brand Promise, Mission, Vision and Values of Columbia Association. The professional must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays. The Assistant General Manager ensures a successful, safe, clean, functional and customer service-focused environment for our members, guests and associates. They inspire members, guests and team members through movement, community and personal attention. They encourage active, social, and healthier lives.

This is a challenging position, involving considerable responsibility, complexity and variety. The Assistant General Manager will be accountable for the growth of overall tennis programming, including but not limited to teams, in-house leagues, and adult instruction program and participation. The Assistant General Manager will also increase member and non-member participation by actively promoting lessons, programs and leagues, and teams, and will work closely with the GM, Junior Tennis Director and Special Events Coordinator to ensure that all programs are administered and delivered in conjunction with our different curriculum pathways.

The Assistant General Manager will be responsible for leading relevant CA meetings and trainings, Columbia Tennis Committee and GM-assigned meetings. The Assistant General Manager will work with the GM and Operations Supervisor to recruit, hire, train, schedule, manage, discipline and terminate staff as needed, and will facilitate all seasonal club openings and season end closings.

Requirements include:

·A bachelor’s degree. Degree in business, hospitality/ or sports management highly preferred.

·Minimum of three years of full-time supervisory experience in tennis operations.

·Minimum of five years of full-time experience in teaching and program development.

·USPTA or PTR certification.

·Strong budgeting/finance and management experience a plus
