Columbia Association is seeking a full-time year round Assistant Golf Superintendent.
Summary: Assist in the supervision of the overall operation, organization, and direction of the golf course. Supervise and plan all golf course maintenance.
Hires, provides corrective action, directs, reviews and terminates subordinate personnel including two or more full time team members.
Makes regular inspections of the golf course to examine work accomplished and to determine work needed to improve playing condition.
Determines whether or not the condition of the course allows for play
Supervises the watering, fertilizing and spraying of tees, greens, fairways and related areas
Supervises daily mowing operations and maintenance programs
Helps in preparing the annual budget for construction and maintenance activities
Assists in planning and directing the construction of greens, tees, fairways, sand traps, cart paths, shelters, bridges and underpasses
Instructs equipment operators in operation and cares of equipment
Assists in snow plowing at the Sport and Fitness Facilities
Repairs and maintains all irrigation equipment
Assists in keeping all pertinent records
Willing to perform as needed all tasks related to maintaining golf course
Membership in various golf organizations and attends seminars to keep abreast of industry knowledge
Plans and prepares the course for any tournaments
Prepares pesticide and fertilizer applications

Qualifications and skills:
- Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Minimum two-year Certificate/Associate's degree in Golf Course Management
- Computer literate
- Previous Assistant Superintendent experience
Two year degree in Turf or Golf Course Management
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb without any difficulty.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds
Licenses, Certificates, etc:
- MD IIIC Pesticide applicator license
- MD Fertilizer applicator license within 3 months
- Dot Physical required
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Position may require extended hours including evenings and weekends
