This position is with our company BioPharm Engineered Systems (BPES), which provides custom engineered process separation and fluid handling equipment for the biopharmaceutical industry. Our experienced teams of engineers and skilled craftsmen have repeatedly delivered “best in class” systems to the biopharmaceutical industry for over 25 years. Our design, engineering and management team is focused on creating custom solutions that meet the critical requirements of the biopharmaceutical industry and our clients.


SUMMARY:  The Mechanical Fabricator III is the primary “go to” person for all the work related to the fabrication and testing of large and small custom engineered equipment working in both the BPES’s shop and the field projects at our client’s facilities.  This position requires 60-70% travel to customer job sites.



  • Able to supervise other mechanical trades and look ahead for individual tasks.

  • Fabricate, assemble and test (with little or no guidance) large and small scale custom engineered equipment for the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Able to drive to various project job sites.

  • This individual will not only be responsible for hands on fabrication and testing of the equipment but will frequently interact with subordinates, customers, and functional peer groups at various technical levels.  Regularly discusses progress, problems and proposed solutions with colleagues and senior personnel.

  • Produce the highest quality product/service while adhering to ASME/BPE and cGMP guidelines.

  • Produce hygienic quality welds on manifolds, frame work, valve fabrications, and any stainless steel custom parts using manual and automatic TIG welding processes.

  • Able to read engineered drawings and documents - PID’s and 3D.

  • Follows all BPE codes and customer specifications.

  • Expertise in the use of various types of machinery and hand tools related to the cutting, machining and polishing of high grade stainless steel.

  • Produce job walk parts lists, drawings, and fabrication hours to complete to estimation team. 

  • Provide guidance primarily to skilled employees and junior level employees.

  • Act as adviser to Production Operations Manager and acts as mentor for less senior personnel.

  • Track progress of jobs against schedules and plans accordingly.

  • Pro-actively seek ways to maintain and improve all manufacturing standards.

  • Pro-actively seek ways to increase performance.

  • Responsible for obtaining weekly production goals and executing these goals.

  • Responsible for team time management and time sheets.

  • Make timely decisions to ensure highest levels of quality and customer satisfaction are always met. 



  • Knowledge related to process piping, design, fabrication and testing of TFF, Chromatography, and BioReactor, process systems.

  • Knowledge of ASME/BPE Codes and Standards, weld documentation, & cGMPs related to the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Ability to direct activities of team members during assembly.

  • Familiarity with various types of liquid and pressure measurement devices used in pharmaceutical process piping.

  • Working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulic systems and components.

  • Ability to continuously improve upon safety, quality, and performance.

  • Experienced at TIG welding, pipe fitting, surface polishing, tube bending, and custom stainless steel fabrications.



  • High School or equivalent with minimum 6-10 years relevant experience. 

  • Licensed Journeymen Pipe fitter in the state of Massachusetts. 

  • 10 Hour Osha Certification
