The Senior Production Engineer supports applications within the production environment. The focus is on health, stability and security of each application. The Senior Production Engineer deploys code and configuration of applications. The Senior Production Engineer is a technical expert in one or more highly specialized phases of production engineering. The Senior Production Engineer provides technical consulting on complex projects. Acts as lead in the design, benchmark testing and documentation of program implementation. Assists in maintaining program libraries and technical manuals along with application service and dataflow maps of the service platforms.

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Ensures software availability, functionality, integrity and efficiency as well as maintain system configuration

  • Provides the day-to-day support and service restoration for all production applications

  • Collaborates with other IT functional groups to coordinate system, product and application upgrades/enhancements

  • Diagnoses problems in software and makes recommendations for  improvement

  • Monitors environment to ensure effective performance

  • Helps create and write support documentation and updates these documents

  • Acts as project manager for projects with small budgets or limited duration

  • Responsible for quality assurance review and the evaluation of new and existing software products

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science/related field or equivalent experience

  • Ten+ years of experience in software administration and troubleshooting

     

Required Knowledge and Skill

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Advanced Scripting and basic programming skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Web-based Technologies

  • Intermediate Database Administrator

  • Requires full technical knowledge of all phases of software implementation and configuration

  • Capable of performing Windows/UNIX system administrative functions for troubleshooting purposes

  • Required knowledge of ITIL in order to contribute to defining processes

  • Advanced knowledge of Network-based protocols: FTP, SFTP, TCP, including network troubleshooting

  • Able to communicate issues to various teams in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to support a 24/7 environment with rotat ing on-call schedule

  • Represents Production Engineering interests in architectural design meeting and project planning

  • Basic Project Management skills
