Staffing Specialist - Human Resources

Location:  Rochester, NY preferred – will consider other HB office locations 

                               

Description:   The Staffing Specialist will manage and/or assist in the recruiting cycle and on-boarding process for various positions across the firm while also engaging in various HR department projects and programs, including employee relations.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage or assist in determining staffing needs based on job function
  • Draft job postings and updates job descriptions, and obtains necessary approvals
  • Use social media communication strategy for all job postings and select other recruitment sources as appropriate
  • Update salary benchmarking for positions and make compensation recommendations
  • Screen resumes, schedule interviews, conduct interviews, make hiring recommendations
  • Administer appropriate skill assessments during interview process
  • Conduct reference checks, process and track background checks
  • Deliver employment offer with discussion about benefits, compensation, etc.
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation of all new hires
  • Maintain information in the Recruiting module in Applicant Tracking System
  • Monitor and appropriately manage the costs of the recruitment process
  • Monitor labor legislation and recommend required changes to keep process compliant
  • Explore market best practices and implement appropriate practices in the organization
  • Build/maintain relationships with internal customers and external recruitment agencies
  • Assists the Director and Chief with employee relations including investigations and disciplinary meetings
  • Work with others in the Human Resources department to carry out essential job functions and support various department projects and programs
  • Enhance own professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, professional organizations and following current news feeds

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’  recruiting and staffing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent experience required
  • Must have experience with staffing processes and possess strong interviewing skills
  • Familiarity with recruiting in a law firm environment a plus 
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of ATS and HRIS a plus
  • Excellent social media knowledge and skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excels in organizing, planning, communicating, decision-making and negotiation
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with diverse personalities throughout operational groups and various professional levels
  • Excellent client service and listening skills
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Exercises sound independent jud gm ent under minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and work independently as well as coordinate with a team.
  • Frequent utilization of telephone for communication
  • Military experience a plus
