Quantum Device Data Engineer
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a team pushing the boundaries of state-of-the-art qubit technologies. Candidates must be able to lead a creative but focused R&D effort involving collecting, compiling, and analyzing data to guide the fabrication and operation of various nano-scale quantum-effect semiconductor devices. In particular, a successful hire will be expected to draw actionable conclusions from metrology and test results and communicate their findings to fabrication and measurement teams in order to help drive device yield and performance.
Maintaining analysis code and database integrity will also be an integral part of the job, as will troubleshooting issues, developing novel analysis approaches, writing and editing effective research reports, and collaborating and communicating with team members in goal-driven development efforts. Being able to present ideas and results in effective technical presentations, write technical papers, and contribute to research proposals is also critical.
Candidates should have a proven track record in interpreting data collected from semiconductor devices (e.g., CV and IV data from hall bars, capacitors, transistors, etc.).
Experience developing scripts (e.g. Python, Numpy, Pandas, etc.) is important. Experience maintaining SQL tables and performing root-cause analysis is desirable.
Comprehensive understanding of semiconductor device physics and data analysis workflows leveraging established frameworks (e.g., Python, SQL, etc.) is required.
Basic knowledge of processes used in semiconductor integrated circuit fabrication is desirable. Knowledge of basic statistics (e.g., variability charts, statistical process control, etc.) and machine learning approaches (e.g., neural networks) is beneficial.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Proficiency in use of computers, engineering work stations, complex electronic equipment, verbal and written communication, interaction with customers/colleagues and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Ability to work well in a team and independently.
Master/Ph.D. in physics or electrical engineering, or Material Sciences.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: U.S. citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
HRL offers a very competitive compensation and benefits package. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401K match, gym facilities, PTO, growth potential, and an exciting and challenging work environment.
