Capacity Specialist

Hours:  M-F, 9am - 6pm


Assist agents in securing capacity for available, short notice, critical and emergency load opportunities with a main focus on direct customer and pre-loaded trailers. Promote the integrity of Landstar load board.Assist and develop maintenance of third party applications. 

RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: 

  • Assist Agents in locating available capacity

  • Promote and protect the Landstar brand by analyzing agent load posting practices

  • Assist with distressed loads as requested

  • Educate Agents and capacity on the use of various Landstar systems and websites.

  • Support specific accounts, agents or projects as requested (may require travel and/or flexible schedules)

  • Issue pre-trip advances and/or additional advances

  • Update and maintain required certification and training courses

  • Maintain and service third party posting subscriptions

  • Assist in developing, maintaining, servicing and growing the Carrier Management Groups’ application

Data entry skills 88+ kpm

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Bi-lingual helpful, but not required

Knowledge of equipment types and legal capacities are preferred. 


Minimum Education: High school diploma, required; or general education degree (GED), required; Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school preferred; 

Minimum Experience:or one year related experience and/or training (customer service, sales, transportation); or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

DUTIES include the following:

Support and promote Landstar's SAFETY FIRST message and culture

Support and promote Landstar's Compliance initiatives

Support the use of Complete and Accurate Dispatch with customers, agents, capacity and employees

Assist Agents in locating available capacity

Provide capacity with available load information

Assist Customer Service with distressed loads as requested

Support specific accounts, agents or projects as requested (may require travel)

Promote Lane Match/Agent networking to optimize capacity and to increase agent revenue

Provide support/training to agents & capacity for Landstar Connect

Utilize ALA to analyze potential agent capacity needs

Utilize ALA to identify and analyze agents who are using improper posting practices and initiate training

Educate Agents and BCOs/Operators on the use of and LOSM tools

Educate Broker Carriers on the use of

Educate capacity of freight lanes and advise which Agents handle those lanes

Trace loads for customers/agents

Administer random drug/alcohol testing for BCOs/Operators as required by FMCSA regulations (maintain documentation)

Support and encourage BCOs to utilize the "Load Alert" function

Advise BCOs/Operators of compliance issues when prompted by the iSeries 400/LandstarOnline

Issue pre-trip advances as required

Achieve monthly S.M.A.R.T. goals as set forth

Provide back-up to other departments as requested

Assist in training of other employees as requested

Weekend, holiday and off-hour coverage as required

Support emergency relief as required

Update and maintain required certification and training courses

Attend and participate in department meetings and training

Complete Customer Service classes as required

Other duties as required or requested
