SUMMARY:   Supervises plant hourly employees in a
manufacturing and assembly environment, plans and assigns work, implements
policies and procedures, and supports manufacturing processes through
continuous improvement, technical problem solving, and process design. 



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Include the following – other duties may be



  • Ensures effective employee
         relations.  Provides employee
         coaching, training and development. 
    Resolves employee issues through collaborative problem resolution.  Complies with the terms of local labor


  • Identifies unsafe behaviors,
         practices and conditions and coordinates corrective actions.  Ensures that employees follow MF safety


  • Coordinates shift support
         teams for tooling, maintenance and material supply.   


  • Balances quality,
         productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all
         areas on the shift.  Works to
         continuously improve in all areas. 


  • Acts as first point of
         contact for employee concerns and safety issues.  Coordinates first aid and/or emergency
         treatment for injured employees, and conducts accident
         investigations.  Implements
         immediate and long-term corrective actions regarding safety issues. 


  • Leads the shift 5S program
         and standards, and ensures compliance and continual improvement.   


  • Responsible for the
         effective use of personnel, material and equipment; and meets production
         schedules while maintaining quality requirements for our customers.


  • Reinforces established
         quality standards and IATF16949 (TS) program, and works with operators and
         support personnel to continuously improve production methods.


  • Completes shift reports
         regarding productivity, quality, manpower allocations, shift activities
         and safety.

degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering or a related technical field
and 5-7 years of experience preferred.  Experience
with steel in a TS16949 Certified manufacturing environment, metal
specifications, tolerances and materials is required, with experience in a
Screw Machine or Centerless Grinding operation preferred.  




to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and
percent, and to interpret engineering specifications.




and ability to use personal computer equipment, as well as shop floor work
station equipment.  Working knowledge of
Microsoft Windows OS, Internet, E-mail, Spreadsheet and Word Processing
software programs. 




to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers and co-workers verbally,
in writing, and through e-mail.  Ability
to effectively interpret and communicate product specifications and
manufacturing control plans.




possess a Process and Customer Service orientation with high attention to
detail.    Problem solving skills in
relation to root cause identification and resolution of customer and manufacturing
needs and issues.  Diverse interpersonal
skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization, motivate
employees and elicit work output.

performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to
stand; walk; talk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects and materials;
reach with hands and arms; operate a computer with keyboard and mouse; and

employee must frequently lift and/or move metal parts weighing from .5 to 20
lbs. for process and quality review. 
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close
vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus, and
the ability to identify differences in colors.


employee must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment while in
the manufacturing facility.  PPE includes safety glasses, protective gloves,
steel toed shoes and hearing protection.


work schedule for this position includes working for 8 – 10 hours per day, 5
days per week.  No travel is required.
