The mission of the Project HOME community is to empower adults, children, and families to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty, to alleviate the underlying causes of poverty, and to enable all of us to attain our fullest potential as individuals and as members of the broader society. We strive to create a safe and respectful environment where we support each other in our struggles for self-esteem, recovery, and the confidence to move toward self-actualization.
Project HOME achieves its mission through a continuum of services comprised of street outreach, a range of supportive housing, and comprehensive services. We address the root causes of homelessness through neighborhood-basedffordable housing, economic development, and environmental enhancementrograms, as well as through providing access to employment opportunities; adult and youth education; and health care.
Project HOME is committed to social and political advocacy. An integral part of our work is education about the realities of homelessness and poverty and vigorous advocacy on behalf of and with homeless and low-income persons for more just and humane public policies.

Job Summary: The Case Aide (CA) will support residents in achieving their goals that promote recovery, wellness, and successful community living. CA will assist in the development of a culture of recovery and peer support, in which Project HOME alumni and residents are encouraged to build and strengthen relationships with their peers and maximize their use of
community resources. The CA will work together with residential staff to support residents in achieving their goals, through the use of peer support, role modeling, connecting with and using community resources, assisting to build new competencies and other similar activities.
HOURS: 11:55pm - 8am Saturday and Sunday
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Be courteous and respectful of all residents, guests and community members
- Assure that all guests sign the visitor’s log
- Be present at the front desk office at all times except when doing rounds and/or handling emergencies
- Allow access to staff, residents, guests, and identified delivery people only
- Check all exterior doors to make sure they are locked and secured. Check all doors and windows on 1st floor to make sure they are locked and secure
- Make hourly rounds throughout the building
- In emergency situations follow security procedures in manual and notify the appropriate personnel
- Responsible for light housekeeping tasks and duties
- Log & report any unusual activity
- Participate in Shift Change with person taking over your shift to share information
- Write a brief summary of your shift in the staff log book
- Must wear mask and eye cover on every shift- Project HOME supplies all PPE
- Enforce mask wearing rules with residents and their guests
- Maintain temperature log book; take temperatures of all staff upon entering the building
- Disinfect all high-touch areas every 3 hours
- Answer incoming calls, take accurate messages, and transfer calls as necessary
- Check and respond to email regularly during shift
- Assist with general administrative duties, such as faxing, copying, mailing, creating flyers etc.
- Promote Recovery Community
- Meet with residents and their support teams to assist residents in developing goal plans and recovery plans
- Complete assessments and maintain ongoing progress notes for residents
- Accompany residents to appointments when needed
- Assist residents in acclimating to new housing/neighborhood
- Assist residents in taking an active role in their own wellness by helping them implement new habits that promote independent living, health, and wellness.
- Use one’s own experience of recovery as a model for residents without directing residents’ recovery experience.
- Respectfully engage persons in recovery in a way that recognizes every person’s recovery process is unique. Support them in identifying strengths, existing supports, and community resources.
- Meet regularly with supervisor to provide updates and to seek feedback, participate in group supervision
- Attend required trainings and continuing education courses as recommended by supervisor
- Co-Facilitate Alumni meetings and help plan activities and outings for the Alumni program
- A great deal of patience and a good sense of humor
- Case Aid is responsible for light housekeeping and various additional clerical tasks
- Log in deliveries and donations
- Receive and sort mail and place in appropriate staff mail boxes
- Complete a brief summary of events occurring during the shift in the log book
- GED or high school diploma required.
- Ability to establish trusting relationship with peers and model community integration and independence.
- Commitment to recovery, choice, empowerment, and the ability of people with serious mental illness or co-occurring disorders to find meaningful lives in the community.
- Actively engaged in one’s community (outside of one’s residence/program), familiar and comfortable with accessing community resources.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Work and Microsoft Outlook.
- Able to document work accurately and utilize a computer for email, calendar, and documentation.
- Experience working in behavioral health preferred.
- A self-identified current or former user of mental health or co-occurring services who can relate to others who are now using those services.
- Peer Specialist Certification is strongly preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
- Valid Driver’s license strongly preferred.
- Experience working with Harm Reduction preferred.
