Job Summary: The primary responsibility of the AM Custodian is to maintain and keep the Hub of Hope clean between the hours of 7:00am – 3:00pm. All Hub staff are responsible for working as part of a team to monitor the safety and security of participants, staff, and volunteers by actively observing who is coming in and out of the space and staying in direct communication with staff throughout the building.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

-       Follow guidelines on Janitorial Checklist for frequency of task completion, and submit signed form to supervisor at the end of each shift.

-       Take the prior day’s trash to the street for pick up in the morning, and bring receptacles back to the Hub within required timeframe.

-       Clean and disinfect all surfaces including desks, chairs, etc. daily, when items are not in use.

-       Clean, wipe down, and spot clean doors, walls, and mirrors daily, and rails and pipes on a weekly basis.

-       Sweep, spot clean, and mop throughout each shift.

-       Wash stains off the walls, and remove graffiti with appropriate cleaner as necessary.

-       Clean, disinfect, and deodorize bathrooms, shower stalls, and laundry area on a daily basis, especially between use.

-       Empty all trash cans throughout shift. Collect trash and place in appropriate receptacles, including taking it to Trash Room throughout the shift.

-       Clean and polish glass, mirrors, and windows daily.

-       Clean inside cabinets, empty trash there and disinfect once a week.

-       Plunge toilets and sinks when necessary.

-       Clean sink drains when required.

-       Attend all meetings as assigned.

-       Respond to all tasks requested by the Assistant Program Manager or on-duty site supervisor, including but not limited to the above tasks.

-       Hours for this position are subject to change to respond to the needs of the facility.

-       Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

-       6 months prior experience as a janitor or custodian

-       Ability to accept and follow directions

-       Ability to read, write, and do basic math

-       Must have a high tolerance of “foul odors” and will be required (with proper precautions) to deal with bodily fluids, excrement, and garbage as necessary.
