SUMMARY:

The Supply Chain Leader drives
strategic efforts to develop aligned demand, supply and inventory plans, and
communicates these plans to gain consensus from Sales, Engineering, Operations,
Finance and Senior Management to support business goals. In addition, he/she
has overall responsibility for developing and implementing strategic and
operating plans to ensure that appropriate Supply Chain solutions are advanced,
supporting current business needs and projected multi-year future growth.
He/she determines, develops and guides Supply Chain organizational initiatives
to support functional capabilities expansions over a multi-year horizon,
including continuously improving supply chain processes, infrastructure, and
people. He/she has three major areas of responsibility, which are planning,
material distribution and supplier management. For planning and material
distribution, the leader will be engaged with the Value Stream managers for
direction. For supplier management, the leader will be engaged with Vice President
of Corporate Purchasing for direction. Day to day direction will be given by
the Value Stream Managers.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Strategic

  • Lead a team of
    Sourcing, Planning, Materials Distribution and Inventory Control professionals
    in driving operational excellence and best practices across manufacturing
    locations

  • Create and
    implement a culture within the supply chain organization that prioritizes
    customers first and foremost

  • Develop and
    execute purchasing, planning, warehouse and logistics policies and procedures
    to support the manufacturing facilities in conjunction with overall company
    policies and procedures.

  • Develop
    procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional
    areas, such as sales, marketing, finance, production, or quality assurance

  • Establish career
    development plans, goals and objectives for each direct report to ensure
    continuous improvement in individual and group performance

  • Develop annual
    operating plan for materials savings and inflation in conjunction with
    Corporate Purchasing.

  • Lead quarterly
    assessment of key suppliers and develop improvement plans with suppliers to
    achieve business KPI’s in conjunction with Corporate Purchasing.

  • Meet with
    suppliers to discuss performance metrics, to provide performance feedback, or
    to discuss production forecasts or changes

  •  Define
    performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain
    factors, such as product cost or quality in conjunction with Corporate
    Purchasing.

  • Manage activities
    related to tactical purchasing as well as tactical and strategic material
    requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing and receiving.

Costs and Tactical

 

  • Work with Finance and provide supply chain data on commodity costs
    and analysis of the impact on cost of direct materials, indirect materials, and
    purchased services in conjunction with Corporate Purchasing.

  • Analyze commodity costs and forecast any changes in material or
    purchased service costs and provide forecasted updates to Finance and Sales as
    required in conjunction with Corporate Purchasing.

  • With specific key suppliers, increase focus on reducing material
    lead times to meet/exceed customer requirements – instill disciplined, joint
    internal processes

  • Ensure supplier accountability to continuous improvement
    initiatives, both from a strategic and tactical perspective including lead time
    reduction, flexibility to schedules, quality improvement, inventory reduction
    (entire supply chain) and cost reduction on year over year basis in conjunction
    with Corporate Purchasing.

  • Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers and service providers,
    including freight/transportation services in conjunction with Corporate
    Purchasing.

  • Work closely with the product development teams to support new
    product launches

  • Develop inventory management strategies and programs to ensure
    maximum inventory turns, best price, high quality and consistent support to
    manufacturing

  • Oversee the daily inventory levels to ensure on time customer
    shipments

  • Assist in resolving quality, delivery or service issues with the
    supply chain, implementing mitigating controls

  • Manage inventory control to meet cycle counting objectives and
    optimize material stocking levels

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in supply chain field or business
    administration; advanced degree a benefit

  • Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in supply chain –
    forecasting, demand planning, inventory management (finished goods, work in
    process and raw materials) and production/supplier planning, including tying
    supply base capabilities (capacities, lead times, inventories) to demand needs
    insuring responsive commitments to business

  • Minimum 7 years success leading teams and managing supply chain
    environment, including implementing performance management strategies

  • Highly motivated with passion, enthusiasm, excitement and energy
    to creatively lead in fast paced, flexible/responsive, team-oriented,
    collaborative environment

  • Highly skilled in engaging others to effect change within the Supply
    Change organization and across SMI business units

  • Proven track record of results achievement in deadline-orientated
    environment

  • Adept at partnering and building strong cross-functional teams and
    working relationships to insure all Supply Chain activities are understood,
    supported and aligned within the business

  • Readily delegates significant responsibilities to Supply Chain
    team leaders and holds them accountable to agreed results

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills tailored to
    audiences from Senior Leadership to working teams focused on building consensus
    and shared perspectives

  • Demonstrated strong decision making ability - to quickly gather
    relevant information, involve others for input, conduct appropriate analysis
    and communicate decision effectively

 

  • Proven business acumen and strong strategic skills from big
    picture, long-term vision creation through implementation planning and timing
    to support aggressive business growth over rolling 5 year horizon

  • Forward-looking in identifying and implementing best-in-class
    technology and delivering supply chain solutions to business growth

  • Systems savvy and astute about new technology to support
    improvements

  • Proven record that demonstrates strong negotiation skills
