SUMMARY

The Parts and Accessories Assembly position is responsible for assembly work
required within the Spartan Parts and Accessories business unit and includes assembly
of components for after sale support for all of Spartan’s various product lines
including, but not limited to, emergency response bodies and chassis, motorhome
chassis, specialty vehicles, and Isuzu N-Gas
.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Learn and retain skills and practices needed to complete assembly operations in
    assigned area
  • Read and follow detailed operator instructions, installation drawings, blueprints,
    etcetera, as required by a area  
  • Perform rework, as needed
  • Apply feedback or instructions from Supervisor and/or Team Lead, as needed
  • Complete proper forms and documentation (example: defective tags, build book, etc.)
  • Understand, and be able to articulate, the production flow of an assigned product line or
    area
  • Self-check work and inspect prior processes
  • Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools, as required
  • Meet throughput goals
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Initiate process improvements
  • Support 5S in work area
  • Communicate with manufacturing and other cross-functional teams (engineering, materials, purchasing, sales, etcetera) to resolve issues
  • Solve complex problems with minimal assistance
  • Fabricate components from raw stock, as needed
  • Initiate stock transfers to maintain record accuracy, according to intra-company and
    customer orders
  • Identify and appropriately segregate, document, and route non-conforming materials
  • Prepare for and participate in physical inventory
  • Maintain a valid fork truck/stand up license-including completion of daily maintenance
    logs and proper maintenance of equipment

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years related experience preferred
  • Excellent
    attendance
  • Positive attitude
  • Strong and consistent attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task
  • Team oriented
  • Capable of comprehensive listening (understanding the message(s) that is being
    communicated)
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • Willing to:
    • Learn and rotate within all areas of the Parts and Accessories group.
    • Improve self / area / company (including pursuing additional training, if needed)
    • Develop a working knowledge of Spartan’s systems (example: AS/400, Aurora, etc.)
    • Wear applicable PPE
  • Able to:
    • Lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds without assistance
    • Read and comprehend blueprints
    • Work overtime on short notice
    • Embrace change 

EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma Preferred but not Required
  • Forklift Experience Preferred but not required
