SUMMARY:

The Production Manager (PM) is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all aspects of the of the safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people for the facility The PM is also responsible for ensuring that all manufacturing functions are performed in a timely, cost-effective manner consistent with established procedures and for overseeing all activities related to the manufacturing of Utilimaster’s various product lines.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Lead the deployment of common manufacturing related core procedures that support the Utilimaster Production System requirements and work in concert with other functions in the manufacturing network.  Plan, organize, and direct production and indirect activities to meet or exceed established production goals in a cost-effective manner. 

·         Forecast staffing needs to meet demands of the business and staff team accordingly

·         Design, develop, and implement processes that increase yield and/or improve quality

·         Lead the deployment of common manufacturing related core procedures that support Utilimaster’s Production System requirements and work in concert with other functions in the manufacturing network.  Perform workflow analysis and develop methods for the production team

·         Coordinate with supervisors to establish production and quality control standards.  Ensure that the organization meets or exceeds performance expectations (cost, quality, delivery)

·         Develop, implement, and maintain processes, procedures, and programs to improve safety, productivity, and profitability.

·         Implement and maintain OSHA and company programs and standards.

·         Ensure employees and managers have the required safety training and are consistently working in a safe manner; work with EHS personnel to implement corporate safety programs to reduce accidents and injuries

·         Work with Manufacturing Engineer to address organizational needs, equipment utilization and maintenance

·         Lead, communicate, and coach to cultivate a motivated associate environment of trust, teamwork, accountability, self-confidence, and business ownership.  Create a culture that stops to fix problems in order to get quality right the first time

·         Ensure operational supplies are on hand and available at all times

·         Prepare all required reports and correspondence

·         Develop, implement, and monitor department budget and manages expenses within approved budget constraints

·         Identify, document, and implement opportunities for continuous improvement

·         Stay up to date on overall activities of the team, identify problem areas and take corrective actions

·         Communicate with cross-functional teams (engineering, materials, purchasing, and sales, ) to resolve issues

·         Work in close proximity with customer, as needed

·         Solve complex problems with minimal assistance

·         Work with team members to develop the future state value stream map and manage the plans to achieve it, as documented in a project plan

·         Support integrating operations data with the customers to provide end to end visibility to status and completion

·         Ensure that standardized work/processes are followed, countermeasures implemented, and area of responsibility is compliant with all requirements

·         Create the basis for continuous improvement and employee empowerment at all levels to drive measurable results

·         Develop, implement, and monitor department budget and manage expenses within approved budget constraints

·         Instill and maintain a positive, customer-centric driven, and can do team atmosphere

·         Provide effective cross-training for employees, including backups, to ensure continuous levels of required support

·         Develop, maintain, and communicate the results of the KPIs so all stakeholders are aware of performance and issues; all information is visual and obvious to the enterprise and ensures no problems remain hidden.

·         Develop and maintain an effective organization through the selection, training, and motivation of all personnel

·         Manage the production reporting to ensure accurate information flow for labor, inventory accuracy quality, and manufacturing costs

·         Develop and maintain a positive relationship with customers, fellow leaders, employees, and departments that support the manufacturing process

·         Continually improve processes by investigating changes in manufacturing methods by evaluating technological developments, investigating feasibility of new equipment and techniques, and providing dependable cost estimates and supporting financial analysis

·         Stay up to date on overall activities of the team, identify problem areas and take corrective actions

·         Other tasks as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Bachelor’s degree in related field

·         Minimum of seven years manufacturing experience; vehicle assembly line experience in a leadership role preferred

·         Minimum of five years experience leading in a fast pace, multi-task, complex manufacturing environment

·         Exceptional leadership and team development skills required

·         Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task

·         Innovative team player

·         Intermediate computer skills are required

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

·         Strong analytical skills

·         Commitment to excellence and high standards

·         Sound judgment with the ability to make timely, and sometimes difficult, decisions

·         Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines

·         Able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

·         Basic competence in subordinates’ duties and tasks

·         Versatile, flexible, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities

·         Bilingual skills preferred

·         Ability to understand any and all safety requirements and cautions

·         Strong:
