Crane Mechanic

Major Purpose:  
Savage Services Corporation, an established materials management company, is seeking an Overhead Bridge Crane Maintenance Mechanic who will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the Savage Maintenance Program. The primary function of this position is to maintain and repair coke handling process equipment. Equipment will range from but not limited to, overhead bridge cranes ( P&H 25 ton), belt conveyors, skid mount hydraulic pump units, skid mount lubrication pump systems.

  • Must understand and implement the Savage Maintenance Program
  • Perform a pre/post shift equipment inspections
  • Maintain and report spare parts inventory
  • Properly record and complete maintenance reports and service records
  • Repair and maintain pumps, motors, hydraulics, conveyors, mobile and plant specific equipment
  • Specific knowledge of how to replace/repair crane components such as cables, gearboxes, motors, drums, wheels and couplings
  • Maintain good relations and open communication with coworkers and management via radio and other proper means
  • Maintain a clean work environment by removing trash and debris from all areas of responsibility including structures, offices, restrooms, break rooms, vehicles, etc.
  • Complete PM services on plant and process equipment
  • Troubleshoot Allen Bradly and Seiman drives
  • Must be willing to perform any other special tasks assigned by management
  • Supports the Savage S7 Delivery System


  • Experience with automated equipment and basic computers are a plus
  • Practices and understands time management, is a self-starter with a positive outlook 
  • Must have a strong mechanical and electrical repair background
  • Experience with repairing and maintaining bridge cranes is a plus
  • Must be available for call outs
  • Must be willing to work a rotating call out schedule


  • At least 5 years of experience with conveyors, changing rollers, pulleys, motors, changing and vulcanizing belts, bag houses, hoppers, crushers, magnets, scales, etc.
  • Experience reading Electrical Prints
  • Experience trouble shooting PLC’s and Frequency Drive’s. 
  • Knowledge and working experience with different types of welding and cutting
  • Must be able to periodically work at heights of up to but not limited to 150’
  • Licensed Electrician is a plus
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent


Physical Requirements:

  • Able to climb ladders
  • Must be able to periodically work at heights of up to but not limited to 150’
  • Must understand the oil refining process and culture that comes with it
    • Ability to work outside in any weather condition
