The Business Development Consultant sells Equity Institutional (EI) custodial services through three channels: broker dealers, registered investment advisors, and product sponsors who offer alternative investments and cross-sell other offerings of Equity Trust Company (ETC) in addition to custodial services.



• Executes an existing sales plan utilizing a consultative sales approach with all leads within the three channels, utilizing the services of ETC

• Collaborates with the Marketing department to develop new lead opportunities

• Establishes and maintains lasting relationships with both prospective and existing clients

• Works with Relationship  Managers to successfully onboard new clients

• Develops thorough understanding of the various audiences EI supports (sponsors, RIAs, Broker-Dealers, metals dealers, etc.)

• Develops thorough understanding of the most frequently invested-in asset types for institutional clients (REITs, private equity, private debt) and is able to discuss the asset review process for each with the financial professional (what is required for review, timeframe, etc.)

• Develops through understanding of the various EI account types (basic, flex ADR, flex retail, Key Accounts, metals, etc.) and is able to identify and discuss the appropriate fee schedule with the financial professional

• Fields inbound calls received through either the business development queue or the Client Advocate Specialist

• Conducts needs assessments with the advisor, sponsor, COI, or other financial professional to determine size/scope of opportunity

• Proceeds with guiding the financial professional through the process of asset review and account open documentation for all new opportunities (<5 accounts)

• Serves as the direct point of contact for receiving all new account documentation and ensures documentation is forwarded on to appropriate operational group as necessary

• Monitors account open and business development voicemail



• Attends industry trade shows in both the capacity as an attendee and at times an exhibitor representing Equity Trust Company

• Documents information regarding sales calls into a client relationship management system (CRM)

• Assists in refining of sales and marketing plan dictated by industry evolution

• Performs other duties as assigned


Education and Experience:

• Associate’s Degree

• Minimum 3 years of experience selling directly to institutional clients, custody sales, or selling in the financial industry

• Knowledge and understanding of the financial industry including advisors, financial planning, and mutual funds

• Proven track record of consistent sales and closing success

• Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office

• Basic knowledge of the operation of CRM systems
