The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has an opening for a ChildWatch Attendant for The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Greenville, SC.
Job Summary
Provides care for infants and pre-school children in Childwatch for Kroc Center members.Under the supervision of the Childwatch Coordinator the Childwatch Attendant will provide enrichment activities that are age appropriate and have value to the child.Monitors all behavior and activities in a constant manner ensuring their health and safety of children at all times. Changes diapers and any other general care for infants. Ensures the nursery is maintained in a safe and clean manner at all times. Responds to emergency situations in a calm and professional manner; notifies Childwatch Coordinator or Kroc management of any problems or incidents. Builds and maintains positive relationships with parents; notifying parents/guardians of any special or unusual incidents. Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports regarding care provided. Cleans the Childwatch area at the end of each shift; cleans toys and equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and practices of good child care. Ability to ensure the safety;health, and cleanliness of babies.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or G.E.D. required. And, two years experience caring for children with at least one year experience working with infants, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge,skills ,and abilities.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to observe children and ensure their safety. Ability to lift, hold, and carry infants on a continuous basis.Must be able to lift, maneuver and squat a "medium" level of dead weight , in excess of 35 lbs., for up to 40% of a scheduled work shift. Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting ,standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
