The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has an opening for a Assistant Sports Manager for The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Greenville, SC.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Sports Manager assists the Sports Manager with sports clinics, tournaments and games.
Maintain a calm, professional behavior to members and program participants sports activities
Set up and tear down any equipment/bleachers used for clinics, games or tournaments in the gym or on the field
Manage and maintain appropriate and engaging social media posts for the Sport Department
Oversee new and current field and gym rental requests including, but not limited to: meetings, paperwork, billing, follow-up, etc.
Update and maintain program sales in CCMS
Ordering and assessing the needs for merchandise purchasing for programs
Responsible for daily administrative tasks including email communications, phone, filing and social media inquiries
Pick up any trash or debris on gym floor or on the field; Sweep gym floor when needed; notify Facilities Maintenance Director of any facility issues in the gym
Assists Sports Manager with clinics, games and tournaments held in the gym or on the field
Issue and maintain accurate inventory of basketballs, volleyballs or any other TSA sports equipment being used by program participants
Be a role model for youth while they are in the gym participating in sport offerings
Performs other related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
Two years experience working with the general public; especially youth,
or
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Current South Carolina driver’s license
AND
Maintain an approved driver status per terms and conditions of the Drivers Qualification Manual found within the USA Southern Territory Workers Together Employee Manual
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to maintain a calm demeanor during stressful situations when dealing with the general public
Ability to work independently
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read and communicate the English language.
Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing
Must be able to lift “HEAVY” items up to 40 lbs such as sports equipment, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a normal facility environment with exposure to some dirt and dust, and/or disagreeable odors.
