Maintenance Engineer

Summary

The Plant Maintenance Engineer (PME) is responsible for developing and maintaining the plant’s preventative and predictive maintenance programs. The PME is also responsible for planning a portion of maintenance work; from surveying the job, to creating material lists and engaging support contractors, to understanding how the work will impact plant production. This position reports to the Plant Supervisor and is located in Philadelphia, P.A.

Responsibilities 

1. Develop, implement, monitor, and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs based on the following: 
a. Plant equipment IOMs 
b. Discussions with OEMs 
c. Industry best practices 
d. Breakdown analyses 
e. Trade shows / users’ groups / conferences 
2. Provide technical support and training in the development of preventative and predictive maintenance programs; research and evaluate new technology related to maintenance operations and procedures 
3. Evaluate SCADA data to implement new practices to increase equipment life cycle 
4. Perform periodic PM and PdM rounds and inspections 
5. Manage outside contractors and ensure plant standards are maintained 
6. Support the maintenance department in outage planning 
7. Plan a portion of maintenance activities as if you were the technician tasked with making the repair 
8. Actively participate in plant safety efforts 
9. Perform other functions and duties as assigned 

Qualifications and Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering from an ABET accredited program 
2. Minimum 5 years of experience in plant engineering and maintenance support 
3. Must possess and maintain a valid Class C driver’s license 
4. Must have preventative maintenance experience 
5. Must be a self-starter 
6. Experience with R1 QA/QC is preferred 
7. Experience with lock out tag out is preferred 
8. This is an hourly non-exempt position.
9. Ability to meet the required 40 hour work week, with flexibility to work rotating on call, occasional nights, weekends and longer hours during planned and unplanned outages & emergencies 

Physical Requirements 

1. Standing, sitting, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, walking on uneven surfaces, and grating, working from elevated platforms, scaffolding or ladders, required to lift 50 pounds and maneuver 100 pounds.
2. Ability to tolerate confined spaces, including manholes and varying temperatures and weather conditions.
3. Exposed to temperature extremes, high noise level areas, high pressure steam lines, rotating equipment, and dusty/dirty environment. 
4. Required to wear PPE such as hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection.
5. Must submit to a company provided physical and drug screening.
