VSE’s Corporate Risk Manager will be a key member of the Legal Department, overseeing risk management throughout the organization; and overseeing employee safety.

Summary:


This position reports directly to the General Counsel and will provide exposure to many facets of a publicly traded international company serving both commercial and government clients. The Corporate Risk Manager will also work closely with other executive management, including the entire Legal Department, Segment Presidents and Vice Presidents and their direct reports.The Corporate Risk Manager will also supervise the Safety Specialist.

Roles & Responsibilities:


Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Contractual risk transfer- managing the risk transfer portion of corporate contracts and agreements.

  • Reviewing the scope of agreements, indemnifications, and insurance requirements.Individual would also oversee compliance with contractual risk transfer including management of the company’s certificate of insurance tracking system.

  • Corporate insurance program- managing the insurance purchase process, manage corporate records related to insurance (this includes insurance policies, property and location schedules, and vehicles schedules), gather insurance underwriting information from divisions of the company including completion of insurance applications, provide regular updates to insurance broker on changes at the company, work with Finance and broker to provide budget projections and premium allocations, track claims activity, approve and setup invoices related to insurance program.

  • Claims and loss control activities- work with quality and safety personnel to promote loss prevention, update and monitor compliance with insurance procedures, and manage safety/risk management manuals.

  • Work with the quality and the safety personnel to promote loss prevention, procedures, and manage safety/risk management manuals and all other claims and loss control actives.

  • Ensure corrective actions are put in place for any workplace injuries and assessments are completed in facility to reduce workplace hazards and injuries.

More about the role:

  • Manage corporate insurance and risk program, including serving as the corporate liaison for liability insurance brokers and claims adjusters.

  • Work closely with insurance brokers and executive leadership to establish appropriate liability coverages and policy limits.

  • Manage liability claims and worker’s compensation claims with assistance from Human Resources.

  • Coordinate closely with Legal and Contracts staff to identify and mitigate risk and ensure subcontractor and vendor insurance policies are satisfactory.

  • Supervise the Corporate Safety Specialist, who is focused on employee safety throughout the entire organization.

  • Establish data driven analysis methods, keys risk indicators, metrics and reporting dashboards for monitoring employee safety performance.

  • Maintains insurance schedules. Reviews and processes.

  • Certificate of Insurance (COI) requests in support of leases, contracts, proposals/bids, and company activities.

  • Evaluates and verifies data received from divisions, finance, and payroll for submission to insurance carriers on workers’ compensation wages, sales figures, freight, property values/locations, etc., for various types of insurance premium renewals (i.e., workers’ compensation, property,general liability).

  • Responsible for the organization’s Safety Management and building risk awareness amongst all employees by providing support and training.

  • Establish data driven analysis methods, keys risk indicators, metrics and reporting dashboards for monitoring employee safety performance.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in risk management.

  • Strong interpersonal, teambuilding, and customer service skills.

  • Experience developing, establishing and maintaining processes that support business objectives.

  • Superior management, communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to multi-task and effectively establish priorities based on changing business needs.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make swift, sound judgments and recommendations.

  • Ability to follow through to resolve issues in a timely manner.

  • Ability to successfully collaborate with business managers/leaders in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Demonstrates personal accountability to meeting/exceeding internal/external customer expectations.

  • Ability to work under high pressure conditions to resolve challenging and complex situation.

  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint).

  • Must be able to travel to US company locations and worksites up to 50% of the time.
