The Weidmann Group, headquartered in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland, is active worldwide in more than 30 locations and employs a staff of 3’200.

Purpose:  Lead and direct Weidmann’s global Purchasing organization, including the develop and implementation of Purchasing strategies to reduce Weidmann’s overall spend in the Electrical Technology business area.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Direct and oversee strategic sourcing projects, prioritizing and delegating across global PU personnel

  • Support Operations/Engineering on capital projects analysis and spending

  • Development of analytical tools to assess supply base trends, risks, cost drivers, etc.

  • Lead  commodity and service contract negotiations of key global spend items - Pulp, Energy, etc.

  • Development of global sub-category teams to drive savings

  • Continuous improvement and optimization of procurement SOP’s

  • Achieve cost savings through target costing, value analysis and material group management

  • Understand industry and technology developments, being ahead of potential disruptive factors

  • Oversee supplier assessments, including supplier audits and scorecards 

  • Work with R&D to expand both material and supplier alternatives in an effort to reduce costs or simplify supply chain complexity

  • Support of global initiatives – LSS, risk assessments, ISO, Safety, etc.
    Ownership of Purchasing KPI’s  

Job Requirements:  


  • Demonstrated experience in a large global, multi-national company

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management.

  • 10 years progressive Purchasing and leadership experience in manufacturing environment

  • Ability to develop cost savings strategies, preferably using Lean SS methodology

  • Knowledge with large ERP systems, SAP preferred

  • Experience with or exposure to Pulp & Paper industry

  • Understanding and ability to lead budget development and management

  • Strong communication skills, written and spoken

  • Effective relationship building and negotiation abilities

  • Detail-oriented and successful time management skills

  • Entrepreneurial thinking and acting

  • English language a must. German, Spanish, Croatian advantageous
