Youth and Family Coordinator
The Northpark YMCA, a branch of the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth is seeking a Youth and Family Coordinator to support the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Coordinator’s primary responsibilities will to provide youth development program support in the following areas: youth and family programs, coordination of Y Playhouse and Youth Zone, supervision of Summer Day Camp, Parents Night Out, and special events in our facility and in the community related to youth and families. This is a part time position - 25 hours weekly. In the months April-August this is a full time position - 40 hours weekly for the supervision of Summer Day Camp.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
-Some college in a related field preferred
-Previous experience working with youth
-Experience with computer, word, excel, and keyboard skills
-Basic clerical skills i.e.record keeping, filing, billings, follow-up etc.
-Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
-Able to handle difficult relationships with staff, volunteers, and member
-Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
-Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations
-Plan, implement and organize age appropriate activities
-Ensures the delivery of high quality experiences for participants and members
-Ensures effective communication of program opportunities to the community
-Recruits, hires, trains, develops and directs employees and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Models effective behavior and exemplary leadership. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
-Supervise the following part time staff: group leaders for Summer Day Camp, Y Playhouse & Youth Zone
-Recruits, hires, on boards, trains volunteers
-Delivers training for staff to meet requirements for licensing entity for summer day camp program
– Models and teaches the Y’s values.
– Champions inclusion activities, strategies, and initiatives.
– Builds relationships to create small communities.
– Effectively tailors communications to the appropriate audience.
Developing Others – Provides staff with feedback, coaching, guidance, and
Quality Results – Holds staff accountable for high-quality results using
a formal process to measure progress.
Project Management – Develops plans and manages best practices
through engagement of team.
